Pete Bowling

Pete cPete began showing horses in 4-H and credits that program with teaching him basics that he still uses today. He has bred, owned, trained, showed and/or sold horses that have won or placed at the Congress, AQHA World Show, AQHA Youth World Show, AQHA High Point Titles, AQHA Championships, AQHA Superiors, NRHA Futurity, NRCHA Futurity, the Cow Palace Grand National and also International World Championships and Futurities. He has been listed in the Leading Breeders of the NRHA and the NRCHA.

Some of the horse include: Scooby Doc, Lenas Sugar Man, Elans Playboy, Tejons Little Johnny, Sir Reminic, Lenas Horizon, Shesa Nicki Te, Deluxe Doc, Pretty Hip Skip, Zippos Social Bar, Flashy Flame Jr., Superior Dry, Conalynx, Cay Oh Pep, Dually Pep, RJJ Lenas Purplepepto, Starlight Lite, Ruby Red Sensation, and Nics Peppy Train.

In 2010 Pete won the Cow Palace Grand National Junior Cutting Championship on Smart Lil Texan.

In 2011 Pete showed Smart Lil Texan, to multiple Cutting Circuit Championships, the Cow Palace Grand National Reserve Championship in Junior Cutting, 4th place in the AQHA Junior Cutting High Point standings, and qualified her for the AQHA World Show in Junior Cutting.


He has stood stallions such as Hobby Doc, Lucky Bar, Doc’s Prescription, Doc’s Chardonnay and Doc’s Tom Cat and sold horses such as Miss Dual Doc, Reminic, Dual Peppy, Lenas Horizon (2000 AQHA World Championship Sr. Reining – 3rd, 2000 AQHA World Championship Sr. Working Cowhorse – 5th, 2000 AQHA High Point Senior Working Cowhorse Stallion, 2000 AQHA Reserve High Point Senior Reining) , Nics Peppy Train (2001 AQHA High Point Reining), Genuine Sugar (European Champion), Tejons Little Johnny (5 Time European Champion) and numerous others.

Formerly general manager at Babcock Ranch, Pete was instrumental in the promotion of Smart Chic Olena and Reminic.


Pete was President of the East Coast Cutting Horse Association for 2 years, and the Founding President of the Maryland Horse Council. He is a member of the AQHA Professional Horsemen’s Association, a former AQHA Judge, and a former NRCHA AAA Judge and Board Member.
